2012 Public Power Scholarship Program- Oconomowoc Utilities and WPPI Energy

2012 Oconomowoc Utilities and WPPI Energy Public Power Scholarship:

This scholarship is awarded to any full-time student who is a customer or whose guardian is a customer of Oconomowoc Utilities.  Dependents of utility personnel are not eligible.
 
Applicants Must:
-Be a full-time student
-Be a customer of Oconomowoc Utilities
-Complete an essay on the theme:  The Benefits of Public Power to Our Community.  Essays should be 500-1000 words, typed, double-spaced and include the following information:

Information for Open House for Elks Scholarship

The Watertown Elks lodge will be holding an open house for students and their families interested in applying for the Most Valuable Student Scholarship that is offered by the Elks National Foundation.
The open house will be held November 16, 2011, 7:00 PM at the Watertown lodge, 117 North First Street.  A short presentation will be given highlighting the application process followed by a question and answer session.  Attendees do not need to RSVP the event.
For those unable to attend the open house, scholarship information and application is available online at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.  In order for an application to be considered at the District level judging, the application must be completed via a computer using the online application. The scholarship application and packet are due to the local lodge (Watertown Elks Lodge 666, 117 N First Street, Watertown) on December 2, 2011.

The Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund was founded in 1947 to provide financial assistance for selected high school graduates who have demonstrated both interest and ability to pursue a college or technical education.  It is supported through contributions and bequests of community members, businesses, students and friends. 

Applicants Must:
  • Be a resident of the Oconomowoc Area School District
  • Be a senior of Oconomowoc High School
  • Have attended Oconomowoc High School for at least four semesters
  • Be a prospective student of UW Madison 
  • Provide information on financial need, academic achievement, citizenship, career goals, etc.
  • Have a  3.2 minimum grade point is required after 2 years to qualify for the final 2 years.

-Be a graduating high school senior Spring 2012
-Have a strong commitment to pursuing and completing a bachelor's degree at an accredited public or private institution in the United States (may start their studies at a two year institution and then transfer to a four year institution.)
-Must have critical financial need($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred)
-Be a United States Citizen
-Involvement in co-curricular and community activities
-A minimum grade point average of 2.0

Most Valuable Student Scholarship - Elks National Foundation:
 
Applicants Must:
-Be a graduating high school senior
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Must submit an application form that will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need.  Students will need to supply the following information:  work experience, community service, honors and awards, extracurricular activities, citizenship and family income range and status.
-Must advance through local, district and state competitions to reach national judging.

500 4-year awards ranging from:  $1000/year to $15,000/year

Charter Student Scholarship Program:
 
Applicants Must:
-Be a graduating high school senior
-Be a resident of Wisconsin, Minnesota or Illinois
-Must plan to pursue a college-level education in one of the following areas of focus:  marketing, accounting, business administration and/or management, communications, computer technology, engineering or a related field at an accredited school
-Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
-Must submit an application form along with two letters of recommendation confirming participation in a community service project and describing the nature of the level of the student's involvement; plus a 250 - word essay including future goals and any accomplishments that hve helped define the student

Here are a few to start the year:

THE OCONOMOWOC SCHOLARSHIP FUND:

Applicants Must:
-Be a resident of the Oconomowoc Area School District
-Be a senior of Oconomowoc High School
-Be planning to attend a two year program at a technical college or four years of undergraduate study

Amount:
$1000 per year ($500/semester for two year program) or $2000 per year ($1000/semester for four year program)
**Students who remain in good standing are able to renew the scholarship each year of study. (Total $8000 for a four year program or total $2000 for a two year program)

The AES Engineers Scholarship - Deadline Approaching:

Applicants Must:
-Be a high school senior planning on attending a post secondary educational facility
-Submit an essay which will be evaluated based on character.  Their belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped.


Important:  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
