Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship 2013


The Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a $500 scholarship to a
graduating high school senior who is planning to attend a 2-year technical school,
4-year college, or other accredited postsecondary education.

ELIGIBILITY:
· Applicant must be an “employee” or “immediate family member” of an
employee of a current Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce member
company in good standing. An “employee” is defined as anyone who has
worked for the company for one year at the time of application for the
scholarship. The applicant’s “immediate family member” is defined as their
sibling, parent, grandparent, or legal guardian, when the immediate family
member is the Chamber member’s employee.
· Applicants must be a 2013 senior graduating from a high school in Jefferson
County or Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
· Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 or equivalent.

PROCEDURE:
· An application form can be obtained from the Sullivan Area Chamber of
Commerce website, or from a member company or OHS Student Services
· The application must be fully completed by the student, which includes:
o All information legibly completed on the 2-page application form,
o One sealed letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor,
coach, or adult employer (excluding family members), and
o A 200-400 word essay.
· The application must be postmarked no later than Monday, July 1, 2013

· Evaluation of applicants will be made by the Sullivan Area Chamber of
Commerce Scholarship Committee through a blind process (no interview).
The evaluation is based on essay content, school activities, commitment to
community service, employment information, and application completion.
· Scholarship winner will be notified by the beginning of August, and
recognized during the Junk Parade on Labor Day weekend.

2013 Wisconsin Towns Association Scholarship -deadline approaching

2013 Wisconsin Towns Association Scholarship :

Wisconsin Towns Association, in conjunction with Rural Mutual Insurance Company and Scott Construction, Inc. will be awarding $7000 in scholarships to the winners of an essay contest to high school seniors graduating in 2013.

Applicants Must:


Be a graduating senior in 2013

Plan to enroll in a Wisconsin public or private college or vocational college

Write an essay that should address the topic:  "Should state funds be used to assist in the maintenance of construction of local roads, and if so, from what types of funding sources?"

2013 Waukesha County Farm Bureau Scholarship

2013 Waukesha County Farm Bureau Scholarship Guidelines

The Waukesha County Farm Bureau is making available four $500 scholarships to students who will be furthering in higher education or those who are already enrolled in higher education, and who meet the qualifications below:

  • The scholarship may be used at any accredited technical school or university for continuing education in agriculture or an agriculture related field.
  • Consideration will be given to non-agricultural field related application; however preference will be given to those that are agriculturally related.
  • The scholarship is $500 per student, per school year, and will be available to students in any year of their higher education.
  • Students are eligible and encouraged to apply every year, scholarship may be received more than once.
  • Scholarships will be awarded at the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee with approval of the Waukesha County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. The scholarship recipient(s) will be notified by Friday, August 30, 2013.
  • If no worthy candidate is found, the Scholarship Committee reserves the right to withhold the scholarship(s).
  • Recipient(s) will be required to attend the Waukesha County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting (Thursday, October 3, 2013) OR a Waukesha County Farm Bureau Board Meeting to receive the scholarship.
  • Payment of scholarships will be made to the recipient(s) after their first term of the current year and after they have submitted a copy of their semester grade transcript showing a 2.5 (C+) grade point average or better (due February 1, 2014).
  • The Scholarship Committee will base their selection upon:
·         Activities (including participation in 4-H, school, community and employment)
·         Leadership Positions Held
·         Essays
·         Letters of Recommendation
·         Transcript of higher or continued education grades
  • Preference will be given to students of families who have Waukesha County Farm Bureau memberships. Applicants 22 years of age or older must have their own membership.
  • Preference will be given to students who are Waukesha County residents.

The application form must be filled out and submitted to the Scholarship Committee by Friday, June 28, 2013 along with an essay and at least two letters of recommendation. References shall return their written recommendations to the Scholarship Committee in a sealed envelope.

OHS Students 4 Service Senior Scholarship 2013
 
Each year the Greater Federation of Women's Club- Oconomowoc Junior Women's Club will award up to five $500 scholarships to senior student members of S4S.  Applicants must have participated in S4S for at least one full school year and must demonstrate strong commitment to community service as evidenced by participation in S4S meetings and projects as well as seeking opportunities to volunteer on their own time.
Applicants Must:
 
Complete an application available in the OHS Student Services office
 
Provide two letters of recommendation (one friend and one community member/both letters must address your level of commitment to volunteer work as it relates to making your community a better place to live)
 
Be accepted to a 2 or 4 year -post-secondary education or training program
 
Be a member of S4S for at least 1 full school year
 
Provide an essay or reflection piece (see application for requirements)
 
Return to Ms. Cathy Daane, OHS, 641 E. Forest Street, Oconomowoc, WI 53066 (Library) by May 20, 2013 by 3:00 p.m.
 
Provide proof of acceptance from post-secondary training facility- University, apprenticeship, etc.
