Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship 2013


The Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a $500 scholarship to a
graduating high school senior who is planning to attend a 2-year technical school,
4-year college, or other accredited postsecondary education.

ELIGIBILITY:
· Applicant must be an “employee” or “immediate family member” of an
employee of a current Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce member
company in good standing. An “employee” is defined as anyone who has
worked for the company for one year at the time of application for the
scholarship. The applicant’s “immediate family member” is defined as their
sibling, parent, grandparent, or legal guardian, when the immediate family
member is the Chamber member’s employee.
· Applicants must be a 2013 senior graduating from a high school in Jefferson
County or Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
· Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 or equivalent.

PROCEDURE:
· An application form can be obtained from the Sullivan Area Chamber of
Commerce website, or from a member company or OHS Student Services
· The application must be fully completed by the student, which includes:
o All information legibly completed on the 2-page application form,
o One sealed letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor,
coach, or adult employer (excluding family members), and
o A 200-400 word essay.
· The application must be postmarked no later than Monday, July 1, 2013

· Evaluation of applicants will be made by the Sullivan Area Chamber of
Commerce Scholarship Committee through a blind process (no interview).
The evaluation is based on essay content, school activities, commitment to
community service, employment information, and application completion.
· Scholarship winner will be notified by the beginning of August, and
recognized during the Junk Parade on Labor Day weekend.
