Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship 2015

The Elks National Foundation administers the Most Valuable Student Scholarship designed for high school seniors intending to enroll in college. The Watertown Elks Lodge participates in this scholarship program.
Students interested in applying for a scholarship may obtain information and the application online at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.  In order for an application to be considered at the District level judging, the application must be completed via a computer using the online application.
The student will supply the following information via the application:  the student’s work experience, community service, honors and awards, leadership and extracurricular activities, citizenship, family income range and status, and exhibits. The applicant must also supply a completed counselor’s report, transcript and ACT and/or SAT scores.
Applications must advance through local, district and state competitions to reach national judging. The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation will notify the 500 national finalists by email.  To be eligible for an award, national finalists will be required to submit a secondary application online. The national finalists will also be required to mail their Student Aid Report to the ENF.
Here is a recap of the program:
  • The scholarship application is available to your students now at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.   In order for an application for scholarship to be considered at the District level judging the application must be completed via a computer using this online application.
  • The student will supply the following information via the application:  the student’s work experience, community service, honors and awards, leadership and extracurricular activities, citizenship, family income range and status, and exhibits. As in the past the counselor’s report, transcript and ACT and/or SAT scores are also required. To assist the students in preparing the scholarship packet there are instructions with the application and FAQ’s at: http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvsfaq.cfm.
  • The printed application and supplemental materials are due to the local lodge (Watertown Elks Lodge 666, 117 N First Street, Watertown, WI 53094) on December 4, 2015.

  • The Watertown Elks Scholarship Committee will then judge applications submitted; the Watertown Elks Lodge awards scholarships to the top three scoring males and the top three scoring females. These top scoring student applications continue to be judged at the district, state and hopefully national level.

  • The 500 national finalists (finalists submitted by each state) will be required to submit a secondary application online as mentioned above.  This application will include an essay, college plans and more detailed financial information.
