2014 Watertown Conservation Scholarship

2014 Watertown Conservation Club Scholarship
Scholarship offers $1800 to a graduating senior who resides in the Watertown Unified School District  and who plans to do college work leading to a degree in the area of conservation or environmental studies. 
  • Plan to do college work leading to a degree in the area of conservation or environmental studies.  The areas of study could also include:  meteorology, civil engineering, science education, geography or agriculture.
  • Be able to provide information regarding their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and community activities
  • Complete an application (available from Susan Verhagen, Student Services)
  • Submit a letter of recommendation
  • Submit an official transcript
Amount:
 up to $1800 ($900 a year for two years)

2014 Kohl Excellence Scholarship

2014 Kohl Excellence Scholarship 
Prestigious award recognizing excellence in learning.
Applicants Must:
  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Be able to provide information regarding their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and community activities
  • Must complete the application form at www.kohleducation.org 
  • Must complete a 300-500 word essay describing your goals in the following:  future education, personal life, community/society service, and career
  • Must submit three letters of recommendation (one from each of the following categories - these represent 18 percent of the score at the state level): 
  • 1.      Teacher
    2.      Counselor or Principal
    3.      Community member {ex. Employer, physician, member of religious community} or family friend {family members are excluded} who is not affiliated with your school district.
  • Must submit application, essay and the three letters of recommendation to Michelle Vowels (Administrative Assistant) in Student Services office by November 9, 2014

-Be a graduating high school senior from an accredited Waukesha County High School in 2015
-Attend University of Wisconsin-Madison beginning the fall semester of 2015
-Be able to provide information regarding their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, community service, financial need and community activities  (selection will be based on these criteria)
-Submit (5) collated packets to include:
  • completed and typed application form
  • transcripts with seven semesters of your grades, copies accepted
  • two letters of recommendation
  • (also include two self-addressed stamped letter sized envelopes)

Horatio Alger National and State Scholarships 2014-15

Horatio Alger National and State Scholarships
Applicants Must:
-Be a graduating high school senior Spring 2015
-Have a strong commitment to pursuing and completing a bachelor's degree at an accredited public or private institution in the United States (may start their studies at a two year institution and then transfer to a four year institution.)
-Must have critical financial need($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred)
-Be a United States Citizen
-Involvement in co-curricular and community activities
-A minimum grade point average of 2.0
-Must complete the Academic Information and Adversity Section of the application
-Must have the counselor complete a certification form after the applicant applies

Wisconsin Antiques Dealers Association Memorial Scholarship 2014-15

Wisconsin Antiques Dealers   Association
Memorial Scholarship

2014-2015 School Year 

The Wisconsin Antiques Dealers Association is pleased to sponsor our 7th Annual Memorial Scholarship competition for high school seniors.  All Waukesha County, Wisconsin public & private high school seniors graduating in 2015 are invited to participate. 

Scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to three top-qualifying entries based on the quality of an essay written on one of the following topics: 

HISTORY & PRESERVATION OF OUR MATERIAL CULTURE:  “Why is it important to understand and preserve your family’s heirlooms?”  Include the history of your family heirloom(s) & attach a photo of the object(s) discussed.  If additional help is needed, student can interview select dealers at the Oct. 3-4, 2014 antiques show at Waukesha Expo to obtain more information about the object(s).  (See http://www.wisconsinantiquesdealers.com for show information.) 

FOR HISTORICAL SITE VOLUNTEERS:  “Explain the important role of volunteers at historic sites or museums, and their positive impact in preserving our local heritage.” (Documentation of volunteer hours at historic sites or museums must accompany this essay.) 

The quality of the essay will be determined by assessing content, punctuation, grammar, spelling, and neatness.  

GUIDELINES: 

  • 2014-2015 Competition is open to all Waukesha County, Wisconsin public & private high school seniors. 

  • Student must have plans to apply for admission to a university, community college or technical school located in Wisconsin. 

  • Entries may be computer generated or hand written in English, on one side of 8-1/2” x 11” paper, 500 words or less.  Student may use as many pages as necessary. 

  • Student must compose the essay without assistance from others, but may use reference materials.
  
  • If reference materials are used, a bibliography should be included. 

  • Essay title, student’s name, mailing address, email address, telephone number and school should appear on page 1. 

  • All entries must be authenticated by the student’s Guidance Office or by the Director of the museum or historical society for which they volunteer. Authentication would include a note on official school, museum or historical society letterhead or a seal embossed with the name of the school, museum or historical society.

  • All entries must be postmarked no later than November 26, 2014 and should be mailed to:

Winners will be contacted in January, 2015 and will receive their scholarships at the Wisconsin Antiques Dealers Association show in Waukesha at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
